Kraken deposit recovery: fees, tiers and evidence
Kraken is unusually explicit about deposit recovery. It publishes separate outcomes for an ordinary uncredited deposit, a missing memo, a hot-wallet deposit, an unsupported token on a supported network, and an unlisted asset on an unsupported network.
Those are policy categories, not a verdict on your hash. Kraken still has to control the destination and match the payment to an account before any of the published fees apply.
What usually causes this
These are the common explanations for this category of problem. Which one applies to your transfer depends on your transaction, the network it used and Kraken's deposit rules — that is what the check above works out.
- A confirmed deposit that Kraken has not yet attributed to the account
- XRP or another tagged asset sent without the destination tag Kraken issued
- A token Kraken does not list, sent to a Kraken address on a network it does watch
- An asset sent on a network Kraken does not credit for that ticker
The fee tiers Kraken publishes
Kraken's recovery article describes example fees, and says they can change and are confirmed before work starts. Treat the numbers below as the published examples from that article, not as an invoice.
| Situation Kraken describes | Published example | What that usually means |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary uncredited deposit | Free credit | Kraken can match a supported asset on a supported network to the account |
| Missing memo or hot-wallet deposit | Network fee | A human has to attribute a payment that the automated watcher did not |
| Unsupported token on a supported network | $200 example | The chain is one Kraken watches; the contract is not a listed deposit asset |
| Unlisted asset on an unsupported network | $500 example | Both the ticker and the chain sit outside the deposit screen |

What Kraken says must be true before recovery is even considered
Kraken also states that some cases cannot be recovered because of blockchain or custody limits. A successful explorer status does not override that. If Kraken never controlled the destination on the chain you used, there is no internal lever to pull.
- Kraken must control the destination or be technically able to return the asset.
- The transaction details must identify the deposit and the Kraken account.
- Some cases cannot be recovered because of blockchain or custody limitations.
Kraken confirmation thresholds that delay credit
Kraken's Bitcoin requirement in this snapshot is four confirmations. Ethereum is twenty. Polygon is one hundred and twenty. TRON is twenty, which is much slower than peers that credit TRC20 after one confirmation. A Kraken USDT TRC20 deposit that looks instant on TRONSCAN can still be inside a normal wait.
| Network | Kraken confirmations | USDT / USDC in this snapshot |
|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin | 4 | BTC only; no USDT |
| Ethereum | 20 | USDT credited; USDC credited |
| TRON | 20 | USDT credited; USDC not listed |
| Solana | 32 | Both USDT and USDC listed; wait is finality, not a growing count |

Evidence Kraken typically asks for
A TXLens diagnosis packages those items from the chain record plus Kraken's documented rules. It does not contact Kraken, and it does not waive a published fee.
- Transaction ID
- Asset and amount
- Network
- Deposit address
- Date and time
Compare Kraken's memo and minimum before a ticket
Kraken's published fee tiers only apply after the asset, network and tag situation are known. The eligibility checker is the policy pass; the TXID is the proof that the payment exists.
- Kraken deposit rules on the eligibility checker — Use it to see whether a memo or minimum is documented before you quote a $200 or $500 example fee.

Questions
Is Kraken deposit recovery free?
Kraken describes a free credit for an ordinary uncredited deposit of a supported asset on a supported network. Missing memos, hot-wallet deposits, unsupported tokens and unsupported networks have published example fees. Kraken confirms the fee before work.
Can Kraken recover a token it does not list?
Sometimes, if Kraken technically controls the destination. That is the unsupported-token or unsupported-network category in Kraken's article, not the free uncredited-deposit category. Recovery is still case-specific and not guaranteed.
